With the lower control arms
back on, it is much easier to work on the ball joints. |
|
Removing the lower ball joints
requires a special tool. The tool fits over the ball joint and presses
it out of the control arm. You can usually rent this tool from an auto
parts store. Or if you are taking the control arms to a shop to press out
the bushings, also have them remove the old ball joints and install the
new ball joints. |
|
Here is the tool in action, configured
to remove the ball joint. The tool presses the ball joint out through
the bottom of the control arm. |
|
Once the lower ball joints are
removed, carefully inspect the lower control arm for any damage. |
