Jason Butler's '96 Chevy 1500 Sport

This is a picture of Jason Butler showing off in his 1996 Chevrolet 1500 Sport. The Delaware resident custom ordered his truck with the stepside bed. Jason waited 13 weeks to get the truck after ordering it from GM, and once it arrived, he immediately began his quest for power. From the factory, the truck received a Vortec 350 V-8, with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 3.42 rear.

Since the truck is the Sport model, it comes from the factory with a monochromatic paint schene with painted grille, bumpers, and mirrors. Jason decided to added Wade headlight and tailight covers, a Snuglid bedcover, and dark tinted windows to complete the sport appearance.

The real story here is Jason's engine, which first received a 160 degree thermostat, computer upgrades through a Hypertech Power Programmer, and a Stillen air filter assembly. With this setup, the truck has run a best time of 15.20 at 88mph. Recently, Jason added a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back exhaust to it and ran a VERY traction limited 15.5 at 90mph. Jason says the truck spun all the way through first and halfway through second. We expect to see Jason's times drop further, he has a set of Gibson headers on the way and he has his heart set on a Whipple supercharger. With the added boost of the superchrager, Jason's dreams of 13's may be fulfilled, but what Jason would love is to be able to get into the 13's on street tires. He can already spank new Mustangs without much of a problem, but Jason wants to challenge the Camaros and Firebirds as well.

Jason likes to think of his truck as a sleeper, which has plenty of power to put behind its sporty look. The only hint of it's quickness is the dual exhaust now poking out from underneath the bumper, and if you get close, you may feel the rumble. The custom license plate sums it all up, the truck is one BDBOWTI.
