On the weekend of March 13-15, the Mid-State Fairgrounds in Paso Robles, CA was home to the 15th annual Chevy / GMC Truckin' Nationals. With nothing but wide open grass and plenty of shade trees, this is the ultimate spot for a show as big as the Nationals. This spectacular 3 day show is one of Northern California’s priemer truck shows of the year and it seemed as though everyone in California attended. It is also a weekend with all the major manufactuers from Eagle One to Gaylords and Auto Meter showing all their latest products, along with some helpful tech clinics and how-to seminars.

Since the show is open to all years and models of Chevy and GMC trucks, there was everything from modern-day tricked-out sport trucks to all-original classic restorations, and they were all sweet. And for those still rolling around in primer, the was even an "In The Works" class.

You must be asking yourself, "Isn’t this an El Nino year?" Well, yes it is, and that’s an even a better reason to hold a show early in the year. The weather in Paso Robles could not have been better. With temperatures in the high 70’s and a cool breeze, the only thing missing would be a perfect weekend like this every weekend. Cruise through 9 full pages of event coverage from Paso Robles and see for yourself. And remember you saw it here first on Sportruck.com.

Previous-model trucks were everywhere. This Blazer sports some trick graphics, smooth shaved body mods, and billet-stuffed wheel-wells.

The most colorful trucks were on hand to kick off the spring with more colors than a patch of wildflowers. These crazy full-size trucks were done by the Kolor Shoppe in Bakersfield, CA.
This Whipple-charged C-10 shows that modern techniques can create excellent results even with an older truck. Its unique style drew crowds all weekend long.

A combination of ghost flames with tribal-graphic inspired influences mix up this happenin' retro ride.

Polished Corvette wheels and ZR-1 taillights are a twist on this eatly 50's 5-window cab.

Airbag suspensions can be found on almost every type of custom truck these days, and this fine example has some wild orange paint to set it apart.

It's those guys from Severed Ties! It seems like they've been everywhere in this body-dropped full-size. They were literally dragging (frame and body) around the fairgrounds all weekend long.

Flames could be found everywhere on trucks, but this truck owner decided to take them to the extreme.
Wild paint was everywhere this year, notice the barbed-wire effect on this custom Chevy.

We think this S-10 had one of the best interiors on the fairgrounds. Notice the tweed and leather combination on the doors, dash, seats, steering wheel, and everywhere! But wait -- there is more -- you can't miss those impressed flames all over.

Painted or plain, the late-model S-10 trucks were something to be seen (and stared at) this year.

There is a whole different atmosphere among the classic truck enthusiasts. They'll be cleaning, kickin' back, polishing, chatin' with fellow truckers, cleaning... and did we mention that they clean and polish their trucks? But the results are amazing, the mirror-shine on this "Money-Eater" nearly blinded us on this sunny Spirng day.

Nothing is bigger than a crew-cab duallie, and they were out in droves this season.
Need to catch up on the latest trends? Take some hints from this duallie: with dual Supertrapps dumping out of the rear corners, frenched Supra taillights, multi-hued paint, and phantom grille with chrome grille shell and a chrome bumper with billet inserts to match. Note the set of those ever-popular Euro-style clear marker lenses.

Mix up a 60's cab and a 90's bed, add in some hot-rod techniques, and you'll get something wild like this truck owner did.
Not done yet?! Here's another look at something unique: some of the old and some of the new... With enough louvers to make a cowl-induction hood, a custom phantom billet grille, smoothed and shaved everything, monsterous billet wheels, and a late-model stepside bed this truck has it all. But wait, you haven't even looked inside yet!
Doesn't every truck deserve some shade? These guys sure thought so, and it looks like their pampered S-10 deserves it.
