"Holy Hot Rods Batman!"
Cruisin' for a Cure
September 24, 2005

If you enjoy hot rods, classic cars, sport trucks, vintage bicycles, lifted trucks, custom choppers, rat rods, lowriders, lead sleds, dragsters, t-buckets, or just about anything on wheels, Cruisin’ for a Cure is your kind of event. Held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California, this one-day event attracts a couple thousand vehicles from all over Southern California and beyond. The only qualification to enter this show is, "If you can cruise it, bring it!"

The show is now in its sixth year, with no signs of slowing down. We were told this one-day car show is the largest of its kind. Whether that is true or not is really not important. The real key to this show is the amazing variety and quality of the custom and classic vehicles it attracts. Where else are you going to find Batman, Robin, and Batgirl cruising in the Batmobile? Or the Delorean from Back to the Future II, smoking as it returns from the year 2015?

Throughout the day you can watch the show vehicles circle the show grounds, engines revving unimaginable power and filling the air with the sounds and smells that will drive any enthusiast wild. While everything at the show is undoubtedly a pleasure, this event is more than enjoying custom cars and having a good time; it is dedicated to finding a cure for prostate cancer. The show is organized entirely by volunteers and every dollar of every entry fee to this show go directly to UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center. In addition, free on-site PSA tests were given to help detect those at risk of this disease. For more information and links, you can visit the show’s web site at www.cruisinforacure.com.

Words can only begin to describe the sights and sounds of this event. You can check out just a few hundred pictures from this year's the show right here:
