Polyurethane Suspension
While rebuilding suspension isn't for everyone, most of the processes involved are within the reach of most do-it-yourself mechanics. The weekend mechanic can expect to spend a couple days on this job from start to finish. A few special tools and procedures are necessary, and these are described in further detail in throughout this article. Prepare accordingly and you'll be on your way to a whole new handling experience. We found that the end results are well worth the effort. Our 1995 Chevrolet C-1500 extended cab was running a 5/8 drop that was stiff yet handled rather vaguely. More recently, we installed a 4-path airbag suspension system. While the ride was improved over its previous form, it still exhibited the sloppy and loose feeling you get when driving a large vehicle. With the rebuilt suspension the truck took on a whole new character. Handling is now firm and precise. Bumps in the road are handled without sending the truck in different directions as we experienced before. And best of all, the ride is not overly harsh. If you want the smoothest ride possible along with mushy handling, you probably want to keep stock setup. But we would highly recommend this modification for anyone looking to improve the handling and performance of their vehicle.
